Because the Academy is a program of the Tennessee Department of Education and because attendance often contributes to local district requirements for professional development, it is important and necessary to establish and communicate clear participation and attendance policies and guidelines.
It is expected that all participants will fully participate in all Academy events including a pre-Academy training webinar (there will be several dates from which to choose), all daily sessions (Core Sessions, Performances, Musings, Interludes), Sunday Opening Overture and Orientation meetings, and a two week post-Academy period which you may do at your own pace and select offerings of your own choosing.
Policies related to official documentation of attendance follow:
1) An official TAA Certificate of Attendance (which includes the State of Tennessee Seal) will be mailed to all TAA participants who complete all 36 hours of the Tennessee Arts Academy.
2) Participants who, for any reason, miss all or part of required Academy events are eligible to receive a letter of attendance, as long as they have attended the substantial portion of the Academy classes and events.
3) Participants will be required to fill out an online evaluation form listing the Academy hours attended and submit the form to TAA by July 31st to be eligible to receive the certificate (36 hours) or the letter of attendance.
Throughout the week, attendees must participate in the academic area and group for which they are registered and assigned. Due to the preparation of the faculty and staff (including the ordering and distribution of materials), it is not possible to change to another area or swap areas with another participant. Remember that you can apply another year in a different area!
